Happy 99th Birthday to WILPF!
From the President's Corner
April 28, 2014
It's a beautiful Boston day—sunshine after a little rain, goldfinches fluttering around the bird feeder and dogwood in bloom. I've been traveling these past weeks, visiting our St. Louis Branch and then onto our office in Boston. It's given me an opportunity to meet new leadership in St. Louis and touch base with the long-time members, full of wisdom and advice.
Now that I'm in Boston, I have some time to reflect on that legacy, giving rise to hopes of invigorating and widening our WILPF community. We have an extraordinary opportunity in the next two years to reach out to each other, individually and in branches, and to re-imagine the possibilities of grassroots activism in the U.S. and across the globe.
Today, right now, is the time to roll up your sleeves and connect with your sisters and to start once again to weave together a tapestry of activism and aspirations—with each branch, every member at large and particularly those new members who have found a home in WILPF.
Are you ready? Did you get your membership materials on "Women Have the Power to Stop War" out of the mailer and off the piano bench or kitchen table? Are you going to Detroit? Or even the Hague? Are you thinking about our 99th and the upcoming 2016 presidential election? Let us know what you're planning, the issues you are going to focus on and we'll keep you informed and reinforce the connections, the threads that tie us together, and move forward for another 100 years!
Make that wish, blow out the candles, eat your cake, and step out into the world to make a difference — we have the power together!
