Bylaws – how boring! However, our bylaws are the guidelines we set to establish and maintain our WILPF community. And – like most other aspects of life – our community is changing over time. In choosing what we want to initiate or continue – and what we want to let go of. We will be putting out our guidelines in black and white so we can propose and vote on amendments to our bylaws to address the changes.

May Takayanagi

Longtime WILPF activist May Takayanagi passed away earlier this year, two months shy of her 100th birthday. May, whose family had immigrated from Japan, was put into internment camps during WWII. Some of her fellow WILPF members share their memories of her and her passion for justice.

As the war in Gaza continues, Israel has exchanged aggression with Iran, Syria and Yemen. This is added to fears that the situation could lead to a much more serious war, and one that could involve nuclear weapons. In July, at the Non-Proliferation Treaty 11th Review Conference, some speakers spoke of the current situation as very grave.

Humboldt Branch book sale

The Humboldt County, CA Branch held our almost-annual July 4 used book sale with our partners from Centro del Pueblo (a local immigrant rights group) again this year. The book sale raises money for our Edilith Eckert/Jene McCovey scholarship, which gives small grants to local groups for projects promoting Peace & Justice, locally to globally.
